When I was asked to review the new Snowboy album, I was like ‘Snowboy? I haven’t heard anything from him for ages, this should be interesting!’
The opening track ‘Snowboy’s Special’ smacks you straight in the face and throws you back into your seat as only an Eddie Palmieri composed track could do! The first few bars start, the signature organ sound kicks in and im already bobbing my head, thinking ‘I like what I hear so far’!
Cue’ Que Viva Para Siempre’, a track co written by the one of the UK’s most talented musicians, Mr Alex Wilson, is a perfect fusion of Snowboys jazzy style and Alex’s upbeat salsa tempo, this track could also be described as a funky cha cha, very versatile!
Metele Mano and Mi China (apart from the impromptu ‘scat section' at the beginning!) were typical Snowboy for me, fast furious and full of energy, not for the faint hearted dancer!
Overall a very eclectic mix of tracks in my opinion, this cd will definitely take its rightful place in my car, next to my kicking tracks that I just love to drive to, well done Snowboy, glad to see you back!
