Not sure if this one is still available folks, but its definately one for the Salsa hardhats. Originally released in 1966 on Alegre records, then released in 1971( a bit of info for the salsa anoraks). A quick correction just heard it is available but i'm nor sure where from.
The Title "New sounds in Latin Jazz is a bit miss leading it's a straight Mambo/cha cha album with a boogaloo thrown and ok a Latin Jazz style track thrown in. If you're a music and dance enthuasiast just lash out ya dollars on this one.
Outstanding tracks for me are, Mambo Moderno, Chango, St Johns Guaguanco, Mambito. The two cha cha tracks are also very danceable. The old Jazz dancers are gonna love Mambo at the cave, I'm sweating just listening to it.
All in all for me its an excellent purchase. I've heard Del Salereo drop a couple of tracks on his show. Almost forgot to mention the line up Vladimir on piano, watusi and Ismael Quintana on vocals, Bobby Rodriguez on bass are some of the more familiar names
Tracklist;
1 Mambo Moderno (Listen)
2 St John's Guaguanco (Listen)
3 Suzy's Bossa Nova
4 Mambito (Listen)
5 Mi Son Cha
6 Chonga
7 Baby Boo Boogaloo
8 Lo Que voy a Tocar
9 Mambo at the cave (Listen)
10 Camelot Cha Cha
