My tracks are mainly all traditional salsa but are a change from the traditional ones we are use to hearing. The added comments are aimed at DJs for whom I hope may want to add new variety.

Quinto Major - Agua de Clavelito
It starts with a thirty second slow intro, but don’t be fooled, when it rhythm snaps in you cant sit down.

Eddie Palmieri - Que Suene La Orquesta
Similar to the one above, really catchy, so much fun.

Los Van Van - Deja la Boberia
Tired of hearing ‘Tim Pop con Birdland’? Try this; it’s equally as good if not better.

Cuco Valoy - Mendigo de Amor
This is an artist that doesn’t get played much today, a great pity. Here’s one with plenty of feeling.

Willy Chirino and Celia Cruz Cuba - Que Lindos Cuba Son Tus Paisajes
Listen up DJs, there is more to Celia Cruz than ‘La Vida es une Carnaval’. Be daring play this, you won’t regret it.

Sonora Carruselus - Vitamina
Fast, mainly instrumental and a little jazzy, excellent for musical interpretation.  At time of writing there is a boy on Youtube doing shines to it, brilliant.

Africando - Doni Doni
An overlooked track, but a really beautiful song. Give ‘Aicha’ and ‘Yay Boy’ a rest play this.

Africando - Manisero (Peanut Vendor)
The best version ever. Why does no one play it?

Quinto Mayor - El Rincon
I like this artist so much that I’ve chosen another track of his. Very danceable.

Toure Kunda - Rapada
One example of African salsa. African salsa has a smooth gentle sound. It is cool energy as opposed to the hot energy of Timba and Salsaton and should make a nice contrast on a clubs playlist.
