I first saw Irene Miguel in 2000 with Edgar Del Rosario. I remember the time vividly, it was at Southport Pontins and she was dressed as a British Soldier! It was the first time I had seen an on 2 performance and I was truly inspired.
More than 7 years on and she still manages to inspire me! This time it is through her dedication to her art forms ‘Mambo Lifestyle and Salsa Lifestyle. Irene Miguel has taken dancing to the next level for so many different people, she has given them structure and guidance, instilled confidence and this DVD is documented proof of that.
The DVD takes you through the different stages of Danza Lifestyle, it teaches you about strengthening your core with Pilates, it covers Body Movement, Isolation, Musical Interpretation and of course, you get to learn some stylish footwork too!
My favourite part of the DVD, as odd as this may sound, was the interview section. You got to see how inspiring she is to her students and how passionate and driven her teaching assistants/teachers are too. You also got to se them in their class environment, which I found refreshing, as a lot of DVDs are just two people in a studio (not that there is anything wrong with that!)
I believe that this DVD has something to offer everyone, whether it be an introduction to Pilates, learning some stylish new shines, or, for me, how inspirational salsa can be and a definite reminder as to why I started dancing in the first place!
