About João N. Rocha

“Dancing is my Life Passion!”

joao rocha 01Joao was born in Lisbon, Portugal, where he had his education, graduated in Business administration.
Joao started Salsa 11 years ago, and Kizomba came into his life 4 years ago. He learnt from his master and friend Kwenda Lima, who told him that "Kizomba” is danced by two people in just “one body", and this comment has changed his view of the dance completely. After a lot of work on the Culture of the dance, he felt that he loves it’s Angolan culture like his own. Having inspiration’s such as Master Petchu, Kwenda Lima and Afrolatin Connection, he has developed his own style, well liked by his students.

In May 2010 he was invited to perform Semba at the prestigious Africadançar Festival in Lisbon, and had been a judge at the CIK (Competition International of Kizomba), and the head judge at the GB Kizomba Finals in UK 2011. He had been teaching and performing at several events around the world in many countries including Portugal, UK, Spain, Holland, France, Germany, USA, just to name a few. Most recently, he is organizing the 3rd LIKE Festival (Lisbon International Kizomba Energy Festival) and also partnering the "BIKE Festival" (Belgrade International Kizomba Energy Festival).

In October 2010 he moved to London to teach and contribute to the growing kizomba scene in the UK and more recently moved to Stockholm in February 2012 where he creats the 1st kizomba scene in Sweden.
