FunkySalsa Party Nights @ Northgate Arena, Chester

The FunkySalsa Party Nights are regular monthly events held on the first Saturday of the month at The Northgate Arena, Victoria Road, Chester CH2 2AU.
Classes are 8.30-9.30pm with Guest Teachers each month.Dancing is from 9.30pm-1.30am.Entrance is £7 for class +club, and £5 for club only.
The Northgate Arena is a sports and leisure complex and has a large, free, on-site car park and very cheap bar prices.The function room is large and has wall-to-wall dancefloor, so there is plenty of dancing space.
Resident DJ’s are FunkySalsa Mike and Mani from Mucha Salsa, Liverpool, and between them they play a great mix of music including a Caribbean twist.Sometimes the Guest Teachers do a DJ spot too which adds an extra bit of variety.
As well as classes and dancing, you can also do a bit of shopping at these gigs!!!FunkySalsa have their own brand of salsa clothing which is usually on display at their events, and there is generally a display of Rotate Dance Shoe samples here too.
These events attract around 180-200 dancers each month, mostly from the Chester, North West and Shropshire areas.Word has started to spread over the last 12 months or so, since the introduction of Guest Teachers from all over the country, so dancers from further afield are starting to visit on a regular basis.The atmosphere is always very friendly, with a party vibe going on.
The downside is that this room has low ceilings and is completely enclosed with no outside ventilation, so in the summer months it gets very hot here, so go prepared and take a change of clothes that you can use if necessary.
Mike has a large collection of percussion instruments set up by the DJ equipment, that everyone is welcome to have a play with.People just don’t seem to be able to leave them alone – it seems they magically draw people to them like a magnet
These gigs have a little of everything necessary for a great night - great music, friendly vibe and shopping opportunities – what more could you ask for????
