Mambocity were holding a prelude to the 5 Star Congress, 6 months before the event. However, Nelson Flores was in town, so this provided a good excuse to have a party!!
 The event was hosted at their base for the Congress, the magnificent 5 Star Radisson Edwardion Hotel in Heathrow. We got there mid afternoon, during which a number of workshops were taking place from the likes of Nelson Flores, Mauro and Eva, and Marchant and Davina… something of a sterling line-up.
We caught the end of Mauro and Eva's class, then Mel took part in Nelsons two-hour workshop. Attendance was good, and the general feedback was great. Mambocity seem to make a concerted effort to put real substance into the content of their events.
The party started at 9pm with guest DJ Mauricio Reyes joining DJ Cruz (Robert White) in the main dance area, with Cornelius and a couple of other dj's keeping the vibe up in the bar area.
The venue for the party was great, with marbled floor on the main, fairly large, dance area, with a few smaller areas on different levels. This was set off with a couple of palm trees and a mini-waterfall. Up some stairs to the side was the bar area, which had floor to ceiling glass walls overlooking the main dance area.
The music in the main dance area was the standard Mambocity fare of quality Salsa and Mambo with the odd dash of Bachata and Cha-Cha. The bar area played a complete mix of Salsa, Cuban, Soul, R&B, and then some….
At midnight, there were performances from Mauro & Eva, Marchant & Davina, and Almas Latinas. Unfortunately, we'd left the venue a little earlier and returned unable to get back into the room due to thje crowd so only caught a glimpse of the shows. Following that, the party was kept in full flow with Mauricio and Cruz alternating on the decks.
We always try and make an effort to attend Mambocity events on a fairly regular basis, as they always seem to be high quality with just the right vibe. This was only the prelude to the Congress… I can't wait for the real thing!!
