Salsa Brava Nights @ St. Annes Club, Digbeth, Birmingham are weekly events held on Fridays and are run by the Latin Motion Team – www.latinmotion.co.uk

There are 3 levels of classes at these events which run from 9.00pm to 10.30pm.

Entrance is £6 or £5 if you are a member.

Once a month there are Salsa Brava Specials with Guest Teachers and/or DJ’s, and on these nights entrance is a little more expensive at £8 or £7 for members.

Dancing is from
10.30pm to 2.00am

St. Annes Club is a large venue with a large wooden dancefloor which is generally good, although a little worn in places.  There is plenty of seating too and bar prices are very reasonable.

This is a church hall/social club, so it lacks a ‘nightclub’ feel, but the people and atmosphere make up for this.

Resident DJ’s are Mauricio Reyes, Diablo and Gary Thomas who between them play a wide range of music and styles to suit all tastes.

There is a small car park at the venue, although you have to arrive quite early to get one of these spaces, but there is plenty of free on-street parking available in the many streets around the Club, so parking is never a problem.

The atmosphere is very friendly and many of the dancers here are regulars who go every week, so you’ll find it very easy to make new friends.  However, as much of the seating is away from the dancefloor, do not expect to get asked to dance if you are sitting down a lot – the best policy is to sit or stand close to the edge of the dancefloor.

As is the case when visiting any new salsa club, the easiest way of making new friends and getting plenty of dances is to begin by doing the asking.

If you are travelling to St. Annes from away, there is a very good hotel called the Paragon just a few hundred yards along the same road which is reasonably priced.  Hotel details can be found on the Latin Motion website.

This is one of my favourite salsa venues and I’ve had many, many great nights here, so long may they continue………
