DJ Equipment Setup - Budget Price-Range Print E-mail
Written by Torqueo

numark-cdmix2.jpgI previously reviewed a mid-price example of around £500. The unit that I'll be covering this time around fits into an even more modest budget of just over half that, at £270.

The Numark CD-Mix2 is the middle brother of the trio of Numark's all-in-one dual cd and mixer units. The others, unsurprisingly, being the CD-Mix 1 and the CD-Mix 3. There are a few other manufacturers that produce this type of unit, but Numark seem to be the leaders in the field.

The feature list for this unit is quite impressive for the price-band, with anti-shock (essential), pitch control (essential), master EQ, large backlit display, and balanced XLR outputs.

Build quality is good, and the sound quality is perfectly reasonable. I would choose the CD-Mix 2 over it's younger brother due to the improved flexibility, XLR outputs, and generally better looks. The CD-Mix 3 adds mp3 compatibility.

Numark also produce a carry case that fits all three units, which retails for around £35

At £269, it's a real bargain. You can also pick up ex-demo units for £199 from www.whybuynew.co.uk

Main Differences from CD MiX 1 - Improved anti-shock, more flexibility with inputs etc, balanced XLR outputs, looks better!!

Main Differences from CD-Mix 3 - No mp3 compatibility

Approximate Prices:

  • CD-Mix 1 = £199
  • CD-Mix 2 = £269
  • CD-Mix 3 = £399

The majority of DJ equipment retailers stock these units due to their popularity.
