This band hailing from NYC has in my opinion this year's hottest salsa production. What makes it so special you may ask? Salsa con Conciencia will take you where it all began, the hard streets of any barrio in the United States or Latin America. Ten tracks that describe the struggles, the hardships, the love won - love lost situations, everyday things, all played with "puro sabor." From the first note on "La Lucha" you know this is something special, reminiscent of the hard edged street salsa of the 1970's. "Salsa Con Conciencia" is one roller-coaster ride of salsa. With its social-conscious lyrics and hard core swing, La Excelencia is a ray of hope that salsa is not dead. The sound is done the way it should be done today, raw, and taking no prisoners. "Sentencia" is a song that is comical and thought provoking, delivering the message that you should be careful who you pick up in a bar or party. "La Salsa Y El Guaguancó" is a club smoker that I know a lot of our fellow DJ's have that CD player skipping for playing this track so much. "Solo Sin Amor" shows you that romantic salsa does not have to be limpid or "monga". All in all  "Salsa Con Conciencia" is a production well worth your money and then some. Hard-Core 21st century Salsa is what La Excelencia brings to the table. Musicians:
