Mark Dimond - Brujeria Print E-mail

Mark Dimond - BrujeriaThis was the debut release by Mark 'Markolino' Dimond, and was later re-released and re-packaged as ‘Mas Sabor’ by Angel Canales, who is the vocalist on this album. It was Angel Canales first recording, and introduced the great and unique sonero to the salsa scene through a very accomplished performance.

Produced by Larry Harlow and Harvey Averne, the album has a really solid feel, and has recently been re-issued as a limited remastered edition on Fania Record.

As expected, the overall sound is 70’s salsa, and only a handful of the tracks are suitable for playing out, but they really are good! For DJ’s, these are tracks that you’d work your set towards, rather than a ‘Salsa by numbers’ album.

My favourite is Brujeria, the title track, which has some killer piano playing by Dimond!!

Totally agree with this review, i love this album and would encourage anyone to buy it!

Brujeria is also my favourite track but Aguardiente is a pretty phat tune too!
