I picked this CD up while in NY recently, being a fan of this group and having a couple of their other albums from previous trips.
The CD, as the title suggests, is a collection of some of the bands best works and has been released by Rareza Records from Colombia. It opens with El Nuevo Montuno llego, a song well known to Salsa-Central as the soundtrack to our 'Santa Clip'. Like most of the tracks on this CD, it's nicely paced for the dancer, with strong hooks. Next up is 'Virazon', one of my favourites on the CD, and the track I used to open my first set at the NY Congress. A great tune!!
La Margarita is next, followed by Mi Corazon Te Llama, a cover of the Eddie Palmieri number, which itself is followed by another Palmieri tune in "Muneca'. So far, out of the first 5 tracks, all 5 are strong dancers numbers!!
The quality stays throughout the majority of the Cd, with a wealth of dancefloor numbers to select from the 17 tracks on the CD.
Overall, this is an essential additions to the On2 DJ's collection, but also with great crossover appeal for fans of Salsa music in general.
Personal favourites include Virazon, China De Oriente (which i've previously heard dropped by Mauricio Reyes and DJ Cruz), and Me Queda El Guaguanco.
