Review by DJ Gury Gury

toby_rivera_my_salsa_collection.jpg  At first glance I didn't think I was going to like this CD.  It sat at the bottom of my new relaeses pile for over a month becuase I expected mostly Salsa Monga, but I was pleasantly surprised by this release from Que Mambo Records.  Toby Rivera is from the Bronx and has recorded a great album featuring guest artists such as Jimmy Delgado, George Delgado, Rafeal De Jesus, Johnny Rivera amongst others.  Rivera's has played with some of the genre's finest such as Ray Barretto, Conjunto Classico and Ray Ramos.
This disc starts off with the a couple of pop salsas Hipocrecia and Yo Quiero Dormir Contigo which combined are the reasons I thought this disc was weak.  By the third track a beautiful flute and violin number has this disc rocking and it never lets up.  Tracks like Colombia and his version of Mi Ritmo Llego are guaranteed to pack the dance floor.  It is the standout tracks like la Protesta de los Chivos, la Mania de Mi Mujer and el Pregon del Campesino are what gives this disc SABOR!!!!!!!!!!!
